No matter the size of your organization, you should participate in #GivingTuesday as it’s an easy way to raise awareness of your group to new donors. #GivingTuesday is great because it doesn’t take a lot to be involved. All you have to do is promote your organization with the hashtag, #GivingTuesday! Because the campaign exists on social media, it’s a great way to include your existing board of directors and donors. Millennials are also more likely to participate in your #GivingTuesday campaign as they are more likely to give through social media. Start this week by encouraging your board directors to commit to share the #GivingTuesday hashtag on their Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts on November 29. Make sure they link directly to your organization’s donation page in their post. A sample #GivingTuesday post is below. By encouraging their social networks to give to your organization, you increase your overall donor base.
It doesn’t matter if donors make a contribution of $5 or $100. It also don’t matter if you get two new donors or 100 new donors. What matters is the people closest to your organization are willing to promote your group. #GivingTuesday is always a successful venture if you participate.
